Nissan is conjuring up something big. A new video series teases a completely new generation of the Leaf, and it seems more than just an upgrade – this could be a complete rebirth of one of the pioneers of electric vehicles.

Leaf transforms from round and cute to sharp and futuristic

Forget the bulky shape you’re used to. In the teaser, sharp lines, aggressive LED headlights, and a sleek silhouette reveal a design that leans more toward an electric crossover – reminiscent of the Nissan Ariya. It’s clear that Nissan is going for a more modern, sporty, and youthful look.

The video doesn’t show much – just lights, shadows, and contours – but enough to get the car world excited.

A new era of electric cars for Nissan?

Leaf has been one of the best-selling electric cars globally since it first rolled out in 2010. But much has happened since then, and competitors have become stronger. Therefore, it’s crucial that the new Leaf not only keeps up – but sets the standard once again.

According to rumors, the new model will be built on Nissan’s CMF-EV platform, which is also used for the Ariya – promising good things for both range and driving capabilities.

What can we expect?

Although we don’t have specifications yet, everything points to:

  • Crossover design with a higher driving position
  • Better range and modern infotainment
  • Possibly semi-autonomous technology
  • Production start around 2026

Why is this important?

Because Leaf was one of the first electric cars to make electric driving accessible to everyone. And if Nissan can reinvent the Leaf with the same ambition, we might have a new game-changer on the way – this time with both style and substance.
