Nissan Ready for Historic Formula E Double-Header in Monaco
For the first time, two Formula E races will be held consecutively at the iconic street circuit in Monaco—Nissan gears up with a rejuvenated team and high aspirations.
When the electric race cars from the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship line up for Rounds 6 and 7 of the 2024/25 season on the weekend of April 27 and 28, it will be the first time in history that a double-race weekend takes place at the Circuit de Monaco. The Nissan Formula E Team is among the participants now preparing for the challenging weekend in the Principality.
The Japanese brand has been a part of the Formula E series since 2018 and is marking this year with a particularly dedicated effort for the double event in Monaco. According to a press release from Nissan (issued via the official motorsports channel NISMO), the team is entering the races with the ambition of using the two races to collect important championship points.
The team, led by Tommaso Volpe, has focused on continuity in its driver lineup this season with experienced Sacha Fenestraz and young British driver Oliver Rowland. Both drivers have experience on street circuits and will try to secure Nissan one or two podium finishes on the legendary track, which is traditionally more associated with Formula 1.
The streets of Monaco will not only frame glamour and history—they are now also the center of a key strategic step in the evolution of Formula E: The double-race weekend demonstrates that the series is committed to increasing intensity and spectator value in electric car racing.
The Monaco race takes place on a slightly modified version of the famous Grand Prix route, and for the Formula E drivers, this means both high speeds and the possibility of spectacular overtaking in the tight turns. Although the Nissan Formula E Team has not yet topped the podium this season, the team hopes that the double opportunity in the southern French principality can become a turning point.
