When Milan Design Week opens its doors in April, it’s not just furniture design and fashion that grab attention. For the third consecutive year, Kia is making waves with immersive art installations and experiential spaces that go far beyond the traditional car showcase.

“Eclipse of Perceptions” – Where Art and Technology Merge

Under the theme “Eclipse of Perceptions”, Kia unveils its latest design philosophy at Museo della Permanente from April 7 to 13. Artists such as Philippe Parreno and A.A. Murakami reinterpret Kia’s Opposites United design language through sensory and interactive installations.

The exhibition functions as both a cultural statement and a marketing maneuver: visitors move through spaces where technology and art blend, challenging our perceptions of mobility and its role in society.

“Transcend Journey” – EVs Meet Adventure

The more vehicle-centric installation, “Transcend Journey”, runs concurrently from April 7 to 9 at Eastend Studios. Here, Kia showcases its newest EVs and PBVs (Purpose-Built Vehicles) in a setting designed to evoke flexibility and a spirit of exploration.

The exhibition features collaborations with South Korean outdoor and coffee brands, and includes a twisted sculpture symbolizing the union of opposites — a visual embodiment of the Opposites United concept.

Strategic Focus on Design and Experience

With this dual setup, Kia continues its recent efforts to reposition the brand — shifting from affordable mobility to a frontrunner in avant-garde design and innovation. According to Kia, it’s no longer just about cars, but about experiences, emotional connections, and futuristic vision.

Skeptics might argue that the EVs themselves feel secondary in these artistic settings. However, Kia is not alone in blending art and technology to boost vehicle appeal. What sets Kia apart is its consistent commitment to Milan Design Week, which has made the company a notable player not only on the road, but in the gallery space as well.
