When we think about “the future,” flying cars are often the first thing that comes to mind—a vision popularized by books, movies, and endless daydreams. Now, that vision is finally taking off.

Slovakian company Klein Vision has unveiled the AirCar, the world’s first certified flying car, and it could hit the market as early as 2026.

A Car with Wings – Literally

The AirCar isn’t just a car that looks futuristic; it’s one that can actually leave the ground.

This innovative hybrid can switch between road and air modes thanks to its retractable wings. When extended, it has a wingspan of 8.2 meters and measures nearly seven meters long in flight mode. On the ground, the wings fold neatly away, letting the AirCar maneuver through traffic—though parking might still be a challenge.

Everyday Flying – But Not for Everyone

While the idea of zipping from city to city above traffic sounds incredible, don’t expect flying cars to become a standard driveway feature anytime soon.

The AirCar’s price tag is expected to hover around 5 million Danish kroner (about £600,000 or $750,000), putting it firmly in the luxury category. For now, it’s more likely to appeal to wealthy thrill-seekers or light aircraft enthusiasts looking for something new.

With a range of roughly 1,000 kilometers and a cruising speed up to 250 km/h, AirCar promises fast, comfortable journeys—provided you have access to a suitable runway for takeoffs and landings.

Safety First

AirCar received airworthiness certification back in 2022. But owning one isn’t quite like buying a regular car. Pilots will need a license and special training to handle the unique demands of a road-and-air hybrid safely.

So, if you’ve ever dreamed of owning a flying car—and happen to have a small fortune lying around—2026 might be the year your dreams take flight.
