Škoda Elroq Wins Red Dot Award: New Electric SUV Honored for Striking Design
Not just another electric car – Elroq sets new design standards according to an international jury.
Škoda has once again hit the mark in the design world. The Czech carmaker’s latest electric SUV, the Elroq, has just been awarded the prestigious Red Dot Award for outstanding product design. This marks Škoda’s 18th Red Dot Award to date — but the Elroq represents more than just another model in the lineup. It is the first production vehicle to fully showcase the brand’s new design philosophy: Modern Solid.
The award was decided by an international panel of 43 experts from 21 countries, who evaluated entries based on design quality, innovation, functionality, ergonomics, and sustainability. The jury particularly praised the Elroq’s “robust aesthetics” and its more function-driven design language — both hallmarks of the new design direction that Škoda hopes will define the brand’s electric future.
Positioned in the ever-popular compact SUV segment, the Elroq represents a key step in Škoda’s journey toward a fully electric model range. With its Modern Solid design, Škoda is embracing a new approach, where authenticity and simplicity take precedence over the more decorative styling of previous models.
While the Elroq is yet to be tested by journalists and the public in terms of driving experience, range, and charging performance, it’s already made a strong first impression — at least from a design perspective.
In addition to the honor and global recognition, the Red Dot Award provides valuable exposure in the highly competitive EV market, where design is becoming an increasingly vital differentiator.
