There are fresh winds blowing over McLaren Automotive. The British supercar manufacturer confirmed on April 29, 2025, that CEO Michael Leiters is stepping down with immediate effect.

His successor will be Nick Collins, current CEO of McLaren Group Holdings, who will take over the leadership of the car division while continuing his existing roles in the parent company.

The change comes just weeks after CYVN Holdings—an Abu Dhabi-based investment company focusing on mobility—acquired the majority stake in McLaren Automotive. CYVN Holdings is now integrating McLaren with their other British investment, the new luxury and electric vehicle startup Forseven. The ownership change and the accompanying leadership shuffle mark the beginning of a new chapter for McLaren.

Michael Leiters, who has previously held leading positions at both Porsche and Ferrari, assumed the role of CEO in July 2022—amidst an economically and strategically turbulent period for McLaren. During his tenure, Leiters managed to implement a series of key initiatives such as recapitalization and bringing new car models to market.

Highlights include the launch of the award-winning 750S, the hybrid model Artura, and the technically extreme Solus GT. Last but not least, he also presented the new W1—the successor to legendary models like the P1 and F1.

“I am proud of what we have achieved together, and I am confident that McLaren is well-positioned for the future,” Leiters stated in connection with his departure.

Both the chairman of CYVN Holdings, Jassem Mohamed Bu Ataba Al Zaabi, and Nick Collins have thanked Leiters for his efforts and leadership during a crucial phase for the company.

McLaren Automotive, established in 2010 and headquartered in Woking, England, builds handmade supercars and has roots in more than 60 years of motorsport history. Moving forward, it will do so with a new owner and a new leadership structure that will lead the brand into the next era.
