BMW Motorrad has just unveiled their latest addition to the sport touring segment: the BMW R 1300 RS. This new model continues the brand’s proud boxer tradition and promises a more dynamic riding experience combined with enhanced comfort and technology, as stated in a press release issued on April 29, 2025.

At the heart of the construction lies BMW’s new 1300cc boxer engine, also featured in the sister model R 1300 GS. With an output of 145 hp at 7,750 rpm and a torque of 149 Nm at 6,500 rpm, there is ample power for both winding mountain roads and long autobahn journeys. The weight has been reduced to 237 kg ready to ride, making the new RS lighter than its predecessor.

In terms of design, the R 1300 RS follows BMW’s latest design language where aerodynamics and functionality go hand in hand. The sharp front with integrated LED headlights and the new composite frame are clear indicators that the model belongs to the top class of sport tourers.

On the technology side, the R 1300 RS includes adaptive cruise control (ACC), collision warning, and leaning lights that adjust to turns and inclines. Six-axis IMU units work in conjunction with driving modes and dynamic control for increased safety and precision. Moreover, the model comes standard with map-based navigation via the TFT display and BMW’s ConnectedRide system.

Nonetheless, BMW does not hide the fact that the R 1300 RS is primarily intended for the discerning touring rider who demands both sporty performance and long days in the saddle.

Prices and availability have not yet been announced, but are expected to be revealed later in 2025.
